COVID-19 has now made its premier to our very country. As of April 6, 2020, Matagorda County has 33 confirmed cases and 2 deaths related to the virus. We are proud to announce that our campus remains COVID-19 free. In the efforts to keep the Legacy Campus COVID-19 free, we will be taking even more extreme measures to keep our residents and employees safe.

According to the CDC everyone should wear a mask when in areas that social distancing may be difficult to perform such as going to grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. At the Legacy Campus all staff members will be required to wear a facemask at all times. We will continue employee screenings at the beginning of each shift and deny entry to any employee that displays signs and symptoms of the virus. We also will strictly be enforcing social distancing at the nursing station and in the employee breakroom limiting the amount of staff allowed in the areas at one time.

New this week, we have a handwashing station at the front entrance for staff to perform hand hygiene prior to entering the facility. All “high touch surfaces” will be cleansed and sanitized every two hours.

The CDC recommends cleaning and disinfecting surfaces in our homes as often as possible. Even though the demands for disinfecting agents are higher than the supply at this time, surfaces can still be cleaned with soap and water. The CDC is providing us with daily updates on what we can do to protect ourselves, however the first defense is still HANDWASHING!! Please remember to wash your hands as often as possible. You can never be too careful when attempting to protect yourself and your love ones.
